Mike, Yes, you should be able to delete the logs outside of hsm. I don't think it keeps track of those. The log retention is usually governed ty the management class; so, look into that.
To check the space on hsm cds files: HSEND Q CDS That command will give the the space allocation of the ocds, bcds, ocds and journal. Look at the usage for the DATA portion of your cds files.
