Ron, You don't need a separate FICON port for a FICON CTC (FCTC). Any FICON port that is shared between the LPARS can be used. FCTC would just be another LCU on that port.
However, all the examples and diagrams about FCTC in the FICON manuals describe using a switch - that's simply not required for LPARS on the same CEC, or even for FCTC between CECs (ask me how I know!) As Tony says, you definitely have connectivity. ICMP is ping (sorry!). The EDC8128I message does suggest that there isn't anything listening on that port: - "A remote node refused to allow the attempted connect operation. The attempt to connect to a socket was refused because there was no process listening, or because the queue of connection requests was full and the underlying protocol does not support retransmissions." Please try the TSO command NETSTAT ALLCONN (PORT 175, (no close brackets) and post the results. Just to clarify, in an earlier post, you said "I made a change and added the port I was getting an error on to the PORT list in my TCPIP PROFILE on z/VM" What port, and what error? I wonder if you need to back that change out, and retry the $S N command? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
