I stand corrected.  I was misremembering MAXNAME, MAXFLDS, MAXGPS,
and MAXLITS.  What i think I got right was that the programmer must
indicate to IEBGENER how much storage it needs.

Nowadays I'd expect such a utility to read SYSIN into memory and
perform the calculation itself.
