Why does your application have to be deployed in Liberty? What's wrong with a free, open source servlet container?

I noticed that the API mediation layer in Zowe is a Spring Boot application. Spring Boot has to be the most popular Java web framework
right now especially for REST APIs, micro-services etc.

Are you sure you really need a application server? If all you want to do is use the z/OSMF TSO API you don't need a server to do that.

I just read a book on Stockholm Syndrome,
it was pretty bad at first, but, by the end I kind of liked it.

If you have purchased CICS you get CICS WLP. Same for IMS and WAS. There
is no free WLP. IBM don't give away freebies on z/OS.

Also, only IBM signed code can run in z/OSMF.

Why do you ask? What are you trying to achieve?

Does anyone know when you order z/OS new or otherwise if Websphere and
CICS Liberty are optional costs or are they included.

Thanks in advance.
