Status update on this issue. We obtained the latest release of StarTool (7.8.1)
from Serena/MicroFocus plus some follow-on maintenance, which does indeed fix
the IKJEFTSR problem in z/OS 2.3. However, it also introduced a new
z/OS-independent problem that we just got resolved with a workaround. It's a
bit obscure but happened to hit us big time. I doubt that most customers would
see it. If anyone wants details, please contact me directly. Vendor is working
on a solution.

There's a certain irony here is the long standing corporate distrust of
shareware for production support. The conventional wisdom is that it's safer to
rely on a corporate vendor than on smart but volunteer developers. This is not
a good place to be right now.

I would dare say that microfocus most recent aquisition of HP has probably
thrown things into a more confused state.
