The point he is missing, is that Windows is not targeted because it is Windows,
but because it widely used and therefor
efficient to concentrate on. Of course no one will write a virus for a DOS BBS
system, that is only used at 10 places in the
world. But if every company moves towards it, the virus writers will follow
very quickly.

Whilst others have said not to worry Linux is unaffected, I note from the ZDNET
article about the CIA hacks database:-

"Many of the other exploits include Windows desktop and server operating systems,
Macs, Linux machines, and other major enterprise software, such as VMware."
Also as some one who manages content on some cloud based Linux servers, unless
the CMS software is continually patched they get hacked, and I would be
surprised if some of the recent exploits were not delivered by hacked Linux
servers.. Linux itself is secure, but its very easy to make it insecure...
I'll ask again: how many Linux machines were affected by latest
ransomware attacks?
Was it ZERO?
I can say some of my familiars (friends, family, etc) were victims of
various cyber attack including ransomware, but it was always Windows (or
DOS in Very Old Days). Linux users were never affected. I'm not talking
about advanced users.
