Hi all

I check our operlog again to find out why there are millions of
message(IEF196I) in the operlog every day.

Please see the part of operlog below:

Most of IEF196I is normal.Because we use WLM initiator, there are lot of
message( IEF196I) from batch JOB or START TASK.

How to suppress these message( IEF196I) from batch JOB or START TASK. Is there
any parm which could suppress them in JES2?

I did not notice anyone asking what to me is a basic question: why would
you want to suppress?

These could be important messages. IEF196I is just a prefix. The message
itself contains the text (and message ID) of the "real" message.
You ought to look into these messages. As documented, the action for this
message is to look into the information for the message that IEF196I
contains.

If you are getting "millions" then the question is what are those messages
telling you? Perhaps there is something misconfigured in your system and
the messages are "complaining".
