For those who aren't fond of vi/vim or emacs, you might like The Hessling Editor (THE/the). The current release is Version 3.2. Version 3.0 in compiled binary format for z/OS, ready to run, is available here:
http://www.ibm.com/systems/z/os/zos/features/unix/library/IBM +Redbooks/index.html#the THE is similar to XEDIT. I tend to use nano where/when I can find it, a text editor similar to pico, the embedded text editor in the pine e-mail client. Unfortunately I haven't found a binary distribution of nano for z/OS, but perhaps somebody knows of one. Has anybody mentioned the IBM Explorer for z/OS yet? It's available at no additional charge: https://www.ibm.com/software/htp/cics/ibmexplforzos/ The Explorer for z/OS includes smart editors for JCL. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy Sipples IT Architect Executive, Industry Solutions, IBM z Systems, AP/GCG/MEA E-Mail: [email protected] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
