I am not sure what you mean by "SMPe data sets." The SMP/E CSI data sets should occupy a small fraction of a volume...nowhere near seven volumes! The SMPPTS could grow to be fairly large, depending on your APPLY/ACCEPT gap practices, but it's associated with the global zone and not the target zone (i.e., it need not be placed on the sysres volume set).
