Perhaps and it depends on what is animated at all and for what use is that animation. But you must define 'animation'. Do you mean changing a picture in a presentation? Say a growing arrow or a pie chart? Or do you mean 3D animation of a character, landscape or a machine? On what platform? Web based animation? In PDF? Or a series of GIF pictures? Or a .MOV file? See this for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_computer_animation ... where it is discussed that a cluster of Unix machines were used. Also see 'render farm'. I certainly know that a Cray Computer was used to create still pictures (Computer-generated imagery (CGI)) for parts of full length movies (Star Wars for example). These pictures were then combined into different frames. But see this interesting PDF from IBM: https://www-304.ibm.com/businesscenter/cpe/download6/37646/Animation_WP_060105.pdf Groete / Greetings Elardus Engelbrecht ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
