This is so unbelievable to me that it almost becomes amusing. It's been more 
than 20 years since UNIX started to conquer MVS. They have been living in a 
peacful partnership since manny years now :-)


Seriously, many of the services in today's z/OS rely on the UNIX services z/OS 
provides. TCP/IP was one of the first. Have a look at you syslog. Try to start 
TCP/IP when the UNIX kernel (STC OMVS) is not up. TCP/IP will tell you it is 
waiting form OMVS to initialize.
