Maybe try specifying a MEMLIMIT as well?

Subject: SMP/E JVMJ9VM015W

I have in my JCL:

       68 //RCVNTS EXEC PGM=GIMSMP,REGION=100M

And SYSPRINT says:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 DATE 03/27/15 TIME 14:33:45 SMP/E GIMJVCLT OUTPUT SMP/E 36.62

JVMJ9VM015W Initialization error for library j9gc27(2): Failed to instantiate
he ap; 1M requested
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.
1-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hmmm. I think 1M is unrealistic for Java. What's it really trying to tell me?
I had no DD(DEF) for SMPCPATH. Could that be the problem? If so, the message
misses the point. (But does classpath default to /usr/lpp/smp/classes, in
which case I should be OK.)

Thanks,
gil
