I was thinking more along the lines of using a 31-bit dataspace (say) to map objects above the bar and use windowing services. Really "data-in-virtual" - forget the linear dataset. Given we now have large page support, there is no need to limit the window to 4k - if they were to get really creative you could use the entire dataspace as a 2G window for the big stuff. Provide HLL APIs, and everyone is happy. Seems too easy - must be a moth in there somewhere.
