Some other questions
1) Do you have other customers with this exact configuration? If so, do they
get errors?
2) Were there any other IOS messages at the time? IOS050 IOS071 IEA480E
a) Any additional error messages for the Device? SCF, RDF EMC type
messages?
3) This basic error has to do with the IO going to and from the hardware (MF to
DASD and back).
4) What type of VMAX? What level of VMAX Enginuity code. Is it the same at
their shop and yours?
5) What level of z/OS are they running?
6) Did the z/OS Guest have the identical IO Gen for the customer?
If you do not have any supporting documents from your customer, it will be very
difficult to diagnosis this. You need LOGREC and SYSLOG and Output (JOBLOG at
least, but Joblog, Jesmsgs and JCL statements are best)
This may not be your issue. It could be your customer's issue. They will say
- we do not have this issue in our shop. BTDT. But if they cannot provide the
details, then it will be very hard to resolve.
