The JES Exit08/16 exits were what drove me to create the ability to send the step ended (max cc and all of the step cc's with step details) via email/sms text messages. Once I figured out how to do it, I wondered why I didn't do it back in the early 90's.
Originally the JES exits were just stripped from some JES2 usermod code that one of the people at PRC wrote back in the 70's. Every time we changed something, I had to rework the usermod. The old guys at the site didn't seem to mind doing that for all of our mods (and we had hundreds), but it just seemed silly to me when all of those perfectly good exits were around. Now, the new code that generates the email/sms text doesn't even need any exits, MVS has come a long way.
