Like I said, trivial. And doesn't need compiling. And last I benchmarked, was faster anyway. But that was a (smallish) "one-off" on zLinux, not z/OS ... As a genera rule, I'd stack perl up against anything compiled for small stuff. But awk is damn pretty close. Each to their own.
