IBM is forced to recoup its fixed costs of development and support of
z hardware and software by apportioning the total among a diminishing
number of customers. Prices must increase.

Is there a stationary point at which the residue of customers who can't
afford to convert, ever, can support the z?

Or is there a regenerative catastrophe looming?
