Which would imply that for a RECFM=U data set, if you don't explicitly specify a BLKSIZE value via the DCB or DD when the data set is created, there would be no way the VTOC could have saved a value for it. Perhaps that is the reason only 0 is seen after the OPEN? -- Joel C.
