Allan, I got a sneaking suspicion I'll be doing the "fuggiddabaddit" rather than spending a bunch of time on it - and if it happens again I'll be taking it to IBM. The "average key length: 0.0" is the same output I get on the working repro'd copy. I was just wondering if anybody had seen something like this before.

The listcat shows a KEYLEN of 30, not zero. You might try a print of the INDEX component and see if it shows anything, otherwise, I am at a loss. If it really gives you that much heartburn, open a PMR w/IBM and see what they say. I was able to create a new dataset and REPRO this one into the new one successfully, and the new dataset works fine, but I'd like to know what may be causing the original to be having problems - and possibly how to fix it. It is not open to any online regions, but is used by batch. A LISTC of the dataset shows bogus statistics - even after running a VERIFY against it (which came back clean, RC=0). I ran an EXAMINE against it and got no errors: ......remainder snipped </snip> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN The information contained in this message is confidential, protected from disclosure and may be legally privileged.
