OK I already figured out that the following command allows a shop to use indirect volser support for zFS files.
DEFINE CLUSTER (NAME(ZFS.ROOT) LINEAR VOLUMES(&SYSR1) RECATALOG) I also figured out that (at least on z/OS R12) that you cannot use a 6 character symbolic and you cannot use ******. It says in the IDCAMS manual that the cluster must be defined in the VVDS. So my question is how does this really help? When I attempted the command and the VVDS did not exist on the volume I got an error message indicating that it could not find the cluster. This kind of made since but I am looking to keep the Root on the SYSRES. So do I need to re-catalog the entry on every IPL so that it reads the VVDS? If so I guess the only value is that you can move from one master catalog to another master catalog. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
