ASSIST instructions were added to z390 at the request of NIU for use in
teaching assembler class. Here is the page you can find via Google "z390
assist":

http://www.z390.org/z390_ASSIST_Support.htm

You can download InstallShield version of z390 here for Windows (zip for Linux
and Apple OSX also available):

http://www.z390.org/#Download_Links

Once you have successfully installed z390, you can use GUI interface or command
line interface to assemble, link, and execute assist assembler programs using
ASSIST.BAT command with the name of ascii assist assembler source files. For
example run the assist regression test in the z390\assist directory with the
command:

z390>ASSIST assist\TESTAST1

Hercules is a hardware emulator which emulates of entire OS such as MVS 3.8 as

run java based assembler, linker, and emulator for execution of problem state
z/Architecture 32 and 64 bit instructions including HFP, BFP, and DFP. SVC
support is included via common MVS type common system macros such as WTO, BSAM,
