The answer is still yes. First create a Load profile for each LPAR for each IPL mode, such as production, SAD, or whatever. Give each Profile a meaningful name and set the load address and loadparm in each profile for that IPL mode. Do the same for alternate sysres packs.
Create a group called Standalone. Use the Grouping function to add every LPAR to the Standalone group. (An LPAR can be a member of any number of groups.) Then drill down in the Standalone group to each LPAR and set the default Load profile for the Standalone mode. When you're done, instruct operators to IPL in standalone mode *only* by drilling down in the Standalone group to the broken LPAR. What makes all this work that within each group, HMC remembers the profile you set. It is not affected by profiles set in other groups. We've run CMOS boxes with HMC since the mid-90s. We never ask an operator to make any change other than selecting a different icon in order to switch sysres packs or to take SAD. . . The new instances would use the stand alone dump load profile. Can we do that and, if so, how? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
