I think it's a great idea. When I download and install something on
Windows I download by release, not by individual fix. If we did the
same thing with z/OS products there's no need for SMP/E on the user
side. I'd even take Colin's idea a step further and the copy "where you
want them" part would (generally) be forced standard names/locations.
Start imitating the installation methods on Windows/Apple/Android.
Anybody can do installs on those platforms. Nobody changes the
directory/file-names. Managers who use those systems wonder what's
wrong with us when we say a product install is going to take a week or more.
