Your title states you are using a zPDT so I presume this is running on Linux. There are several ethtool LINUX commands in section 7.9 on LAN performance zPDT Redbook, SG24-8205-06. I have found these make an enormous difference to performance over local networks, particularly with FTP. I am only running z/OS natively under zPDT however; no zVM involvement.
