Growing older is not great when I need to write a correct message. My comment about oscillating sorts and "tape drive shows" was meant for 3420 drives, not 3480/90s. Sorry. As best I remember (with age!) the 7330 drives could be used with many systems. And high-speed rewind was more interesting with them! They were considerably less expensive than 729 drives.
