Steve,

The last place I worked we had 3390, 3390A and 3390B devices addresses.  For 
the 3390B/3390A setup we used 200 3390B and 56 3390A.  That seem to handle the 
majority of our work load.  We placed the 3390A addresses in SS1 and the 3390B 
addresses in SS0.  Don't know if it matters but the only issue we ran into was 
with z/VM.  At the time we did this the level of z/VM did not support 3390A 
addresses being in SS1 so for those addresses we used SS0.

We also used HyperPAV, MIDAW and High Performance FICON.

I used them on real hardware.  1 for 1 on static.  Need about 10% of each LCU 
for the busy volumes so 230 real 26 for PAVs.
