I have uploaded a new version of the Jol Command Language. Fujitsu sold it with it's mainframes, and IBM wanted to sell it too. Sam Golob of CBT Tape fame wrote in part "Nothing I say here, does justice to the enormity of this great work." It is largely due to Sam's words that I decided to update it. I only hope that it is useful after all these years, and that its facilities are sufficient to enable other applications to be added. Thanks Sam, and all the other people that contributed in years gone by.
Jol was always about making MVS and later systems easier to use. This version has a new facility to help allocate, copy, move etc all types of data sets, with the intention of inviting new people to the platform. You can read about the new facility here: https://start.oscar-jol.com/using-jol/data-set-operations-centralised JOL is a PL/I based language, with many commands to help write long JCL optimised procedures and short immediate functions. Although developed before TSO and REXX, it has many TSO/ISPF style PANELS added to help various functions. A quick overview of Jol instructions is at https://www.jolucl.com/JolDoc/. Many more details are at www.Jol-Oscar-com Jol has full support for Symbolic Parameters, including the ability to save them and use them in another job. Control statements on "Cards" can be created and used as Utility Control statements. There is also a Scheduling Facility, which allows you to submit a Network of jobs, each executing in parallel and in sequence. I trust this is useful to everyone. Yours sincerely, Clem Clarke clemcla...@gmail.com PS: Download the Install.jol60EXE.zip from here: https://start.oscar-jol.com/downloads/download-store. Unzip, and use a blocksize of 3120 to load the XMI file to the mainframe. Also, Sam Golob's summary of Jol is here: https://start.oscar-jol.com/documentation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
