DSFS is relentlessly case-insensitive.  Does your application
depend on the case of characters?

Where's the DSFS User's Guide, which should answer 
such questions.

Many executables in /bin are (or formerly sere) external
links to program objects in PDSE.  Possible reasons:
o Avoiding duplication of storage.
o Binder may have been uncomfortable with UNIX filesystems.
o SMP/E may have been uncomfortable with UNIX filesystems.
o Developers may have been uncomfortable with UNIX filesystems.
