My own solution to UP MAX and DOWN MAX is to set up most of my PFKs as pairs of
functions, where the first 12 are a normal function and 13 - 24 are the
"intensifier". PFK2, for example, is "swap", PFK14 is "split new;"; PFK3 is
"end;", PFK15 is "return;"; PFK9 is "rfind", PFK21 is "rchange".

So PFK8 is "down" and PF20 is "down m;up 1;". After reprogramming a few of my
keys in the emulator, I just hit <Shift-Up> and <Shift-Down> for top and
bottom. Works well for me, and less to remember (especially after having done
it that way for the last 30 years).

Another simple but useful command that TSPF has is BOTTOM; equivalent to DOWN
MAX. My finger macros keep tripping me up, so I may set up a personal command
table.
