I realized that last night, when I was thinking about my question. But I remember a Data in Virtual process back in the 1990s. You defined a dataset or datasets via an exit. The Data in Virtual STC would watch for a reader of the dataset and read the data set into storage and retain it there for multiple readers. Once all readers disconnected from the dataset, it was taken out of storage. At least that is my memory of the process.
