I have submitted a request to fix that documentation. It should say " The request can be made to perform better by specifying the NORMAL" suboption for AUTOIPL.
AUTOIPL was introduced in z/OS 1.10, around 2008. The request can be made to perform better by specifying the CLEAR suboption for AUTOIPL. The result of requesting this option is that the AUTOIPL initiated IPL will be done using the NORMAL option*. So *defaulting* to CLEAR will result in elongated response time. To perform better, explicitly specify CLEAR which will result in implicitly using NORMAL? That's not really how it works is it? s, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
