Hi all,
I am cross posting this as there is more than RACF to it.
I have been reading as much literature as I can get about RACF Erase on
Scratch and I have been doing some testing on a sandbox. And I am getting
nowhere fast.
We are being asked what will the implications be of activating EOS. I
cannot find any evidence of CPU or of elapsed time increase. But testing on
a sandbox has several limitations.
It seems that IBM and STIG are all in favor of ERASE(ALL). The caveats I
have been able to found seems to be only a possible increase on device
contention. I have found an old share presentation that argues that today's
DASD are not prone to the same type of contention of the old ones. So,
truth be told, I am quite lost.
There must be some of you that are using EOS on its different flavors.
Should we really activate ERASE(ALL) as it seems that the performance
probles associated with it are a problem of the past?
Thank you all for any light that you may be able to shed on this matter
Regards
Jack
