No Hogan here. We use IAM in a bunch of applications because it is significantly faster than VSAM (or was).

And, we found out that ADRDSSU dump/restore of VSAM was what was being used to perform VSAM reorgs, as opposed to IDCAMS REPRO, DELETE, DEFINE, REPRO.
