Quite possibly a stupid/useless suggestion, but: what about SIDEFILE entries? It's been 15 years since I remember looking at those. We had a ton of long entry point names in ported code, and used SIDEFILE for a while.
We later got around needing SIDEFILE in a super-hackish way: we create a "decks" file that contains the object decks all copied together, include that member, and it works-finds the long entry point names.
