Hello, As far as I know, UTF-8 is not an option. Full disclosure though, I have never tried. DBCS (Double Byte Character Set) is an IBM construct. The 3270 DataStream first see the x’0E’ which means Shift-Out of SBCS mode and into DBCS mode, and then we have a number of sixteen bit encoding units (double bytes) followed by an x’0F’, the Si – Shift In byte. DBCS is required to support Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese. I have worked a fair bit with EBCDIC CodePage 930 (Japanese) and 937 (Traditional Chinese).
