We use an ICF for MVS guests under VM. A CP can be used instead of an ICF, but when we stated to run out of capacity we saw severe Virtual Coupling Facility problems (i.e., delays) and had to switch to an ICF instead of a CP. The CP could not be dedicated to serve the VCF so it was also used for general processing.
