Isn’t that pretty much what BPXMTEXT does? Is it VM/CMS that allows you to enter a “command” of just a question mark “?” after an error condition to get a more complete explanation of an error? Could the shell program support such a “command” to automatically invoke BPXMTEXT for the most recent error codes? Could BPXMTEXT be enhanced to retrieve the latest-occurring error codes when no argument is given and look those up automatically?
