Enzo, I think you’ve got two questions, really. The first I can answer: updating the microcode on this class of equipment requires a qualified “chaperone," either on-site or remote. So I’m afraid you can’t just go to a Web site, grab a microcode bundle, and install it.
Assuming no microcode updates there’s a somewhat separate question: “Will it work?” based on whatever is already in place. That’s speculative, especially from afar. One thing that concerns me is whether the people who removed the drives also decided to remove some drive component(s) from the controllers. That’d be bad. Any chance this DS8884 could be powered on and assessed before trying to move it? — — — — — Timothy Sipples Senior Architect Digital Assets, Industry Solutions, and Cybersecurity IBM zSystems/LinuxONE, Asia-Pacific sipp...@sg.ibm.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
