Yes, that is a standard documentation technique that always raises my hackles:
first make a claim, then later say "just kidding".

I stand corrected. Clearly documented in
<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ibm.com%2Fdocs%2Fen%2Fzos%2F2.5.0%3Ftopic%3Dcommands-subcom&data=05%7C01%7Csmetz3%40gmu.edu%7Cd022d007e4a048e2611208da2e07349b%7C9e857255df574c47a0c00546460380cb%7C0%7C0%7C637872905721311988%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=nHtBDpHI%2Bnlp%2FIfEzo3wYPyUE%2BlTPEdKAmDHUaCD%2FRs%3D&reserved=0>.
Is this new? Like Phil, I was accustomed to having it only in CMS.

I'll submit an RCF on:
When you run an exec in a non-TSO/E address space, the following default
host command environments are available:
    MVS (the default environment)
    ...
In fact, when I run an exec in UNIX shell, clearl " a non-TSO/E address space",
the default environment is not MVS but SH.
