Perhaps somewhat Rube-Goldberg, but a threadsafe CICS transaction invoked via EXCI from an off-platform system running on an L8 TCB could issue a dynamic call to IDCAMS redirecting the output via an output exit that could put the information into a TSQ, then when the IDCAMS call is complete read the TSQ and return the needed data to the off-platform invoker.
