Hi Edward,

My TS3584 isn't directly attached to my z, it's a back end storage for a
TS7760T VTS. As such, I can install TS1150 drives in the library, load new
tapes in the library, mark all my current 1140 tape media as full, and go
through the gyrations of having the library migrate all the data to new media.

Given such a huge window of opportunity <sarc>, what's that going to do to the
availability and price of TS1150 hardware.

Rex

Newer drives and media? From where??

AFAIK, TS1140 (released in 2011) is the *last* physical tape drive that can
attach to IBM Z -- at least of those made by IBM.

Are there other physical tape drive vendors with products that can attach to
IBM Z? What about tape controllers?
