Peter, the last time I recall defining a tape subsystem using MTL=NO was the
old IBM TS33xx (IIRC) tape subsystem that was a actual tape robotics system,
not a virtual subsystem. The last 2 VTS's I've defined (IBM,EMC and Luminux)
all required us to define them as MTL=YES

Hello

Just curious about this parameter in IODF and I understand some of the tape
subsystem running in zOS needs this value to be defined in IODF.

Any specific reason why MTL=NO is required for the subsystem responsible for
tape backup (virtual )
