Hi,
In IOCP/IOCDS we didn´t define volume type (3390-1, 3390-2, 3390-3,
3390-9 etc...), just define 3390.
In DS6800 definition panels we define a runge of volumes with for
example 3339 cyls for model 3 and another range with 10017 (model 9).
Both ranges could be continuos addresses, 3390-3 from A000 till A03F (64
volumes) and A040 till A05F (32 volumes) of volumes model 9.
This range of address can be defined in LCU 0.
What could be an issue is physical disk drive size. If we have HDD´s of
73GB less volumes can be defined in LCU, if we have HDD´s of
300GB (our case) 256 volumes can be defined. Other thing to keep in mind
is that even with 16 HDD´s, internally DS6800 split in 2 loops
of 8 disks each, missing 1 for parity (raid 5) and 1 for spare, so from
8 x 300GB (2.4TB raw capacity) we have only 1.8TB available for data
usage in each loop (assuming a full DS6800).
I hope help.

3390 is a device type. -1, -2, -3, -9, -27, -54, etc are different
sizes of 3390s.

Hi
Thank you very much, I'm just wandering, but the technician says, every
device type needs a separate control unit
Try to look after this again, but thank you.
