Its been a while since I ran it in linux. IIRC, its java with some extra stuff. Try 7z or another archive extractors to get it unpacked. Take a look at the .bat files. They run java with a jar file... just translate the commands. My notes indicate I had better luck with 3.8 than 4.0. Although there appears to be 5.x versions now. The FTP directory linked ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com/ps/products/bookmanager/tools/ is open and you may find other useful bits there.
