My favorite method of migrating to new DASD works for almost all the datasets. Define the new Disk volumes to your DFSMS Storage Group configuration(s). Change the old Disk volumes in each Storage Group to "DISNEW". This method ensures that as each dataset is moved/copied/reorg/created it will show up on the new DASD. Seamless and painless. Finally a short outage to move the ones which are proving difficult.
