And I'd add #3: Hunt for something like "key defaults" or "keyboard shortcuts" in the Help doc associated with the application. There might be a list of special keys there and that would help with other things like Clear, Attention, Erase to End of Field (or whatever that was called on a real terminal - I forgot after 30 years!)
