I started using LyX and decided that it was easier to just write my own LaTeX
markup. I know longer recall what the issues are, but I use, e.g.,embedded
images (http://mason.gmu.edu/~smetz3/humor/RFC1149.html), some less common
packages ( http://mason.gmu.edu/~smetz3/humor/DOX.pdf) and packages
specifically for Mathematics, e.g., drawing commutative diagrams..

Latex is awkward, and I'd much rather have BookMaster and BookManager BUILD
(MVS) for things like letters and documentation, but LaTeX is still in the
"cold dead hands" category for either Mathematics or tee-shirt design.

Being a weirdo, I prefer a "document processor" to a "word processor" for
anything that is more complicated than a simple letter or memo, such as
documentation. In particular, I like LaTeX.

Actually, TeX is a typesetting system.
And it is a markup language (like HTML & CSS).

. I also like LyX which generates LaTeX
as its output.
