But if you're running under TSO and just want to know your own access to a dataset, the LISTDSD command will tell you that. I had a REXX program to parse the output of LISTDSD and pull out just the "your access" information. It issued the command once with "discrete" and once with "generic" and gave full information. But the OP wanted to do it in Assembler, so this technique is moot. (Plus, I think they've added the capability to restrict that command since I retired.)
