I'd think you shouldn't expect an SMF record to identify who issued an abend. Maybe if you're lucky there's a logrec record. Otherwise set a SLIP trap and hope it happens again. Something issued ABEND 222 (or CALLRTM TYPE=ABTERM for compcod 222) with a reason of A618. If there was no reason, the value would have been 0. It's not residual from "reg 15" as far as I know. SMF30ARC is plenty valid enough. Yes, the doc could say that if the value is 0, it is not determinable whether that is because there is a reason of 0 or no reason. For that alone, a reason of 0 is not typically a good idea (although if someone is using a reason of 0, that's not going to change, for compatibility reasons).
