<snip>
What's a guy to do? The TCB is of course long gone. The TCBRV316 bit is
apparently not getting propagated to the SMF record. SMF30ARC is
documented
as "Abend reason code" with no qualification as to determining its
validity.
</snip>

I'd think you shouldn't expect an SMF record to identify who issued an
abend.
Maybe if you're lucky there's a logrec record.
Otherwise set a SLIP trap and hope it happens again.

Something issued ABEND 222 (or CALLRTM TYPE=ABTERM for compcod 222) with a
reason of A618. If there was no reason, the value would have been 0. It's
not residual from "reg 15" as far as I know. SMF30ARC is plenty valid
enough. Yes, the doc could say that if the value is 0, it is not
determinable whether that is because there is a reason of 0 or no reason.
For that alone, a reason of 0 is not typically a good idea (although if
someone is using a reason of 0, that's not going to change, for
compatibility reasons).
