Ah! I see he linked to it in a followup, but copied it carelessly in a

Contributors should be fastidious in posting exact copies of the code
in question, ideally by copy-and-paste from a log or SYSPRINT.
Turn off all the "smart" formatting options.
Alas, carriage returns are becoming a lost art, an MUAs value
cleverness over precision.
